Hardboard is a high density fireboard, sometimes known as Masonite.
It is manufactured from exploded wood fibres which have been highly compressed.
This makes the sheets exceptionally strong and dense, but also pliable. Also available in white and cream, it is ideal for furniture construction and cabinetry. Sometimes hardboard sheets are used to protect a floor during on-going construction work.
